Courtney,
I saw this article on you at Gay Games Chicago 2006 in the athlete’s program. Way to go girl! I used to compete in luge at Lake Placid during the mid 1980’s. I retired from luge to get married and later had 2 wonderful kids. About 4 years ago, I was diagnosed as being transgender and have been slowly transitioning since then. I am no longer married, but am raising my kids. It was great for me to find out that someone else from the GLBT community is out in skeleton, another sledding sport similar to my own. I was in Chicago competing in cycling at the Gay Games and later was in Montreal competing in the World Out Games as well. I guess you could say I finally realized my Olympic dream just going and meeting all the other athletes from everywhere. I surprisingly did well too with it being my first and second cycling competitions. I won a gold and 3 silver medals. I was so happy!! I didn’t expect it.
Anyway, I would like to keep in touch if possible and cheer you on when you compete (at least from my TV). You have my email, so contact me when you can. Take care. God bless. Hana
